In this tutorial, we're going to walk through the steps of setting up your AnywhereSeat account and going live with ticket sales for your virtual event. Fortunately, AnywhereSeat is very easy and straightforward, so it won't take much effort! We're also big believers in providing excellent support for all of our customers, so if you have questions, feel free to reach out to us at any time.

Step 1: Create your account

Go to AnywhereSeat.com and click the Sign Up button.

  • Organization Name — the name of your program (such as Gotham City Music)

  • Subdomain — this is where you'll send patrons to purchase their tickets (such as gothamcitymusic.anywhereseat.com)

For the rest of the fields, simply fill out the requested information and you'll quickly be onto the next step!

Step 2.0: Add your event

Now that your account is created, you'll be brought to a welcome page where you'll also see a checklist of what to do next. We recommend adding your first event, but you can also choose how you want to receive your proceeds (see Step 3 below).

Adding your virtual event doesn't take much work and you can always go back and edit the information at any time. Here are the three types of events you can add with their corresponding help articles:

  • Live stream — this is for when you're doing a live performance and streaming it through AnywhereSeat. We allow you to stream directly into AnywhereSeat using RTMP keys and the live stream software/service of your choice like OBS, Ecamm Live, Wirecast, Restream, or Crowdcast. Or you can use your own Vimeo Livestream account. Live streams can be a little more demanding when it comes to technology and setting things up, while also forcing your patrons to be online at a specific time, so you'll want to be sure to keep all of that in mind. Read the help article Note: We can help you figure out the best live streaming software/service for your needs.

  • Video — this is the simplest option we offer where you can simply sell tickets to a prerecorded video of your event, allowing your patrons to watch on their own time. All you have to do is upload the video file to your event in AnywhereSeat. Read the help article

  • Other — this is if you want to do something like a Zoom, Google Meet, etc. using an external meeting / webinar tool. When patrons purchase tickets to this kind of event, they'll be redirected at the time of the event to your desired service (such as to a Zoom meeting). This means you'll never have to share the details like the meeting ID or password. Read the help article

Step 2.1: Event times / availability

For a live stream, you'll be asked to enter the time of your event / stream so patrons know when to logon to AnywhereSeat to watch. If you have multiple live streams scheduled throughout the week (like a multi-day run of a show), you can add multiple times and patrons will be able to select their desired time when purchasing.

For a video, you have the option of setting an available start date/time and an available end date/time. If start time is set, patrons can pre-order, but won't be able to view your video until that time. If end time is set, patrons won't be able to view your video past that time.

For "other" events, you'll be asked to enter the time of your event similar to a live stream (see above).

Step 2.2: Pricing

Here you can set the ticket prices for your event. You can either set a flat ticket price or choose the "Name your own price" feature which allows patrons to enter a custom price (best for donations / fundraising and also our most popular option).

Step 3: Choose how you want to be paid

You have two options when it comes to receiving your ticket proceeds:

  1. Direct deposit — we'll deposit money directly to your bank account when you request it.

  2. Paper checks — we'll mail a check to you when you request your funds (U.S. only)

Step 4: Start selling tickets

That's it! You're ready to start selling tickets. Remember that you can sell tickets in advance for live streams, videos, and other events before they're available.

When your patrons visit your AnywhereSeat page, they'll be able to pre-order access to your virtual event. They'll receive a unique access code and will also receive a confirmation email with a calendar invite attached.
